The congregation
of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany was
founded in 1921 by
Late Msgr.
R.F.C Masscarenhas, a
great religious man and a philanthropist. Slowly and
steadily the Bethany Educational Society came into
being in 1948. Under the guidance of
Rev.
Mother Macarina,
Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters
of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore,
St. Paul’s English Medium School was started in
1975. To begin with the society had only a rugged terrain
interspersed with rocks. The constant and earnest endeavour
of the sisters and their dedication to the cause over
the years has made the rocky land to one of enchanting
beauty and joy. Today the school is one of the pioneer
institutions run by the society in Kerala.
The first SSLC Batch appeared in the year 1982. Once
established in full swing there was no chance to look
back. In the year 2002 the school was granted the permission
to start Plus Two.
St. Paul’s Higher
Secondary School, Thenhiplam is now an educational complex with a KG Block, HS Block and
Higher Secondary Block. To cater to the need of the poor girls of the locality
a Govt. recognized Tailoring school was also started.
The school has now a strength of over
1500
students and a
band of 50 dedicated faculties. It has well established Science Labs, Computer
lab, Mathematics lab and good library. Cent percent performance in the board examinations
and over-all championships in Youth Festival and Exhibitions are a monopoly
of this school. Active participation in both curricular and co-curricular activities
and excellent academic outputs make this school unique and dear to many. The
tiny spark of inspiration over the years has grown into a great conflagration
producing a galaxy of stars to the mainstream of the society and relentlessly
continues its service.
